Music of Aretha Franklin at Carnegie Hall 3/6/2017

We'll be back at Carnegie Hall for the third time since 2014 performing as the house band for The Music of Aretha Franklin on Monday March 6, 2017.

The partial lineup of participating artists is already incredible and growing by the week. The show is a benefit and proceeds go to several NYC-based charities that bring musical experiences, training, and instruments to young people in the city.

We'll also be doing a warm-up show with some of the featured performers the night before at City Winery (NYC) on March 5. Big shout-out to producers Michael Dorf, Shlomo Lipetz and the entire City Winery crew for inviting us back.

Here's one more, with the full Antibalas band, from January 19, 2016 from our residency at Brooklyn Bowl with special guest Miguel Zenón.

Last month, the Antibalas horns Martín Perna, Jordan McLean, Raymond Mason and Jas Walton were part of an all star cast recreating Bill Withers's legendary 1974 "Live at Carnegie Hall" concert. The band was composed of Greg Phillinganes, Steve Jordan, Willie Weeks, Felicia Collins, Bashiri Johnson, David Delhomme and an amazing massive string section.

Singers included Aloe Blacc, Dr. John, Gregory Porter, Michael McDonald, Anthony Hamilton, Jonathan Butler, Keb Mo, Valerie Simpson, Ledisi, Amos Lee, Kori Withers, Kathy Mattea, and Ed Sheeran.

Rolling Stone wrote about it HERE.

Okayplayer was on the scene documenting it. Photos and writeup HERE.

Okayplayer also put together this video from the rehearsals:
