Music of Aretha Franklin at Carnegie Hall 3/6/2017

We'll be back at Carnegie Hall for the third time since 2014 performing as the house band for The Music of Aretha Franklin on Monday March 6, 2017.

The partial lineup of participating artists is already incredible and growing by the week. The show is a benefit and proceeds go to several NYC-based charities that bring musical experiences, training, and instruments to young people in the city.

We'll also be doing a warm-up show with some of the featured performers the night before at City Winery (NYC) on March 5. Big shout-out to producers Michael Dorf, Shlomo Lipetz and the entire City Winery crew for inviting us back.

Celebrating David Byrne and Talking Heads at Carnegie Hall

We'll be the house band for a celebration of the music of David Byrne and Talking Heads on March 23, 2015 at Carnegie Hall. We're excited to be backing / collaborating with over 14 featured artists including Sharon Jones, the Roots, Cee-Lo Green, Bebel Gilberto, Beth Orton, Steve Earle, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Santigold, and many others.

100% of the net proceeds from the show go to six charities connecting youth with music and the visual arts in New York City: Church Street School for Music and Art, Midori and Friends, Young Audiences NY, Little Kids Rock, The Center for Arts Education, and the Grammys in the Schools program of the Grammy Foundation.

The night before (March 22), we'll be doing a warm-up/rehearsal show at City Winery in NYC.

Antibalas: House Band for Paul Simon Tribute at Carnegie Hall

We've been asked to serve as the house band for the Paul Simon Tribute at Carnegie Hall, NYC on March 31, 2014. The concert is a benefit organized by Michael Dorf of NYC's City Winery benefiting groups who do critical work promoting and developing musical training and audience opportunities for youth around New York City. These groups include: The American Symphony Orchestra's Music Notes, Church Street School for Music & Art, Young Audiences New York, FIKS (Fixing Instruments for Kids in Schools), Little Kids Rock, and The Center for Arts Education. The list of performers and collaborators is pretty amazing, from rock to folk to soul, punk and funk. Each of the performers will be performing a Paul Simon piece from his 57+ year career. We'll be backing some but not all of the performers for the concert, so it should be interesting, fun, and adventurous as is the case any time we step outside of our typical musical environment. The list of confirmed performers includes: Josh Ritter, Joe Henry, Bob Mould, Ben Sollee, Dan Wilson, Bettye LaVette, Joy Williams, Brett Dennen, Madeleine Peyroux & Jon Herington, Allen Toussaint, Judy Collins, Isobel Campell & Andy Cabic, Antibalas, and others to be announced.

If you can't make it to Carnegie Hall, there's also a warm-up concert the night before (on March 30) at City Winery with some, but not all of the performers from the Carnegie performance the following night.
