Earlier this year, trumpeter Takuya Kuroda invited us into the studio to record an afrobeat version of the late great Donald Byrd's "Think Twice" (co-produced by our own Nikhil P Yerawadekar) for his latest album "Zigzagger" on Concord Jazz.
We had a crazy night at Okayafrica's AfrobeatXAfrobeats concert at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors series at Damrosch Park, doing a set of our own and then collaborating on a few songs with Nigerian pop sensation Davido.
Here are some of our favorite pics from the audience:
The crowd was live! Thanks to @arielsutra for this.
In February we played at one of our favorite festivals ever: Carnaval de Bahidorá at Parque Las Estacas, in Tlaltizapán, Morelos, México. There were lush trees and flowers all over and running throughout was a crystal blue spring-fed stream you could swim in. There were art installations all over the place, amazing groups including El Sonido Gallo Negro, BadBadNotGood and La Banda Bastón, very good sound, delicious food and a whole bunch of people who love to dance and have a good time.
Our conguero Reinaldo deJesus put together some of his favorite moments here:
Here's a clip of us performing "Sare Kon Kon" on the main stage at sunset:
